Yesterday, Samsung HK officially launched the much-awaited Android tablet in Hong Kong at the Mira Hotel. At the event, Samsung tried its best to give the consumers and press an impression that it can indeed go head-to-head with the iPad. The obvious advantage of Tab over the iPad is the built-in camera, 1080p video playback, and ability to surf websites that use Flash Plugin.
Since the Galaxy Tab has full support for the local language, more local apps will be available compared to the iPad. Samsung has already partnered with multitude of local publishers such as Ming Pao Group, Crystal Windows Books, Cultural Communications Press, Joint Publishing, GuangBo Media Limited, Mings Reader, Chung Hwa Book Co and Cup to bring fresh content to the Tab everyday. The Galaxy Tab is priced at HKD5,000 (about $644) in Hong Kong.
