Intel has released 530 SSD officially and it is available in 3 form factors – 2.5 inch, mSATA and M.2. The solid state drives will be made available in 80GB, 120GB, 180GB, 240GB, 360GB and 480GB capacities. There will no 480GB model for M.2 and mSATA form factors though.
All the SSDs are based on 20nm MLC type infrastructure and have SandForce SF-2281 controller. The transfer speeds, as claimed by Intel are 540MB/s and 490MB/s for read and write speeds respectively. For random performance, it features 41k IOPS and 80K IOPS read and write random speeds. Pretty amazing, if you ask us.
Intel claims that their 530 series is the most efficient SSD till date, which is not surprising, but it is definitely a wonderful news for the laptop vendors who are going to use mSATA units in their laptops. [official product page link]
